what is recesshacks?
Are you a Canadian high school student?
RecessHacks is a 48-hour online hackathon for Canadian high schoolers. We empower high schoolers in Canada to use programming to create unique solutions to the world's problems.
how does it work?
On August 12 at 12:00 PM, a topic will be announced in our Discord server. All participants must create an innovative, functional and original creation that is related to this topic. It doesn't have to be a website! It can be hardware, software, or anything in between!
You don't even need to know how to code! No-code creations are cool, too. Just make sure that it’s a functional creation, not just a design.
You can work alone or in a team. Teams can have up to 4 people.

Requirements
Submissions
Submissions will take place through devpost!
- All projects must be functional. It certainly doesn't have to bug-free, but it has to be something more than a prototype made in a UI design app.
- A video must be submitted demonstrating the functionality and the purpose of the project. Videos must not exceed 5 minutes.
- If you used code, it must be submitted. We recommend using GitHub, but we're pretty flexible.
Submissions are due at exactly August 14 at 12:00 PM! Submissions will automatically close, so we recommend you submit 10 minutes early. If you accidentally miss the deadline, email us (contact@recesshacks.com) ASAP!
Please familiarize yourself with the rules.
Submission Format
Your submission on Devpost must include the following points. In your "About the project" part of your submission, make each point a heading and answer it below. An example can be found here.
- Inspiration: what inspired you to pursue this project?
- What it does: what does your project do? Be specific!
- How we built it: how did you do it?
- Challenges we ran into
- Accomplishments: what are you proud of in your project?
- What we learned
- What's next
